5 nods on the short list is still no guarantee of winning Word Guild’s novel of the year in the categories listed. The level of excellence continues to rise among Canadian Christian writers. Fortunately, the Cross Maker won the historical novel of the year award.
The 32nd Annual Awards presentation was co-hosted by Soul H2O host, author, blogger and award coordinator, Sherry Stahl. Assisting her was best-selling author, speaker and missionary, Joe Amaral. I sat with Joe at last year’s awards Gala when I received the Harvey Mackey journalism award plus an award for an anthology written with others. Joe is a well travelled and well spoken figure known to many for his work in Israel. It was fun to chat along while the handing out of the 58 awards rolled on.
My own publisher, Word Alive Press, had several winning authors recognized. Marina Reis, Project Manager for my novel wrote “Congratulations on your historical fiction award this weekend! That is super!”
The award comes with a small cheque, a glass trophy and a certificate of recognition. The recognition is wonderful but it would be even better if I got to share this winning novel with any of you who are eager to understand the background culture, drama and lifestyles of the Biblical story around Jesus.
If you want the novel with the winner sticker and autograph that’s $25. You’ll have to order directly from me at jackataylor@live.ca If you are fine with the novel as is you can get it as an ebook, from your bookstore, from Amazon or from the publisher.
